LAB HOURS
The Upper School Robotics Lab is open from 6:30AM - 6:00PM (M-TH) and 6:30AM - 3:00PM (F). Occasionally Saturday build days will be offered contingent on the tournament schedule.

What is VEX ROBOTICS COMPETITION (VRC EDR)? In collaboration with the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF), VEX Robotics is a student-driven program that teaches leadership, collaborative teamwork, creative problem-solving, and technological advancement through the engineering design process throughout the world. VEX manufactures the parts and issues a yearly challenge for which students conceptualize, build-from-scratch, program, and operate robots to complete designated tasks through various level competitions year-round.
When are teams selected?
Team members are tentatively placed on temporary teams in May and will then undergo an evaluation process during the month of June to determine team viability. Rising 9th graders and new team members will be added in June after undergoing a acclimation process to get to know the existing teams. Official teams will be announced at the end of June.
When is the robotics season?
The High School Iron Eagles regular season runs from June - May, capped off by the Tennessee State Championship (March 14-16, 2025) and post-season culminates with the VEX World Championship (May 6-8, 2025 in Dallas, TX).
Do students need to have robotics experience to be on the team?
Our coaches and Iron Eagles alums offer NEXT LEVEL Workshops to help students learn new skills and take what they know to the next level.
What are the season costs?
Annual fee = $500/student
Signature events = $350/student
World Championship = $1250/student
